In some ways Rozema was Mark Fidrych 2

He also became a Canadian Citizen. He played 527 games with Toronto. During those games he had 125 goals and 166 assits to make a total of 291 points. You see Nik and Pavel had great moments in Toronto They helped our team a lot. Pavel was a great defensement and Nik was a great play maker and teammate for Mats Sundin and Alexei Ponikarovsky.Monday night, you shoulnt be booing the numbers 77 and 80. Let's say Rajon Rondo runs a 3/4 court sprint in 3.00 seconds Toney Douglas ran the fastest time this past year at 3.03 A 3/4 is 23.5 yards. Chris Johnson ran the first 10 yards at the combine in 1.40 and the first 20 in 2.41.Assume Chris Johnson runs the next 3.5 yards at the same speed he ran the last 10 yards (1yd/.101 seconds). That would make his 3/4 court time 2.41 (.101 x 3.5) equaling 2.7635.His time would be even faster than that, as he would not have reached top speed after 10 yards. Running on hardwood with basketball shoes may be harder than running on turf with flats, but not harder by a quarter of a second.

Jermaine Taylor had the highest no step vert at this year's NBA combine with 34 inches. The NBA has the world greatest athletes but not the world's most explosive athletes. Still it would be fun to see some sort of race/contest between the games' top athletes. It may be unfair to compare NBA combine results to NFL results, as NFL prospects spend months in a gym solely focused on 40 technique, raising thier bench, and gaining weight. Here coordination and not just athleticism would come into play.1. Raquetball between Glen Davis and Jared Allen.3.Home run derby between Pro Bowlers and the NBA All-Stars.4 Capture the Flag between Orlando Magic and Bengals D.5 Dodge Ball between NBA 3's and NFL Linebackers. . This is a real reach, but the Tigers didnt take part in many good transactions this season. Most of their moves amounted to nothing or were bad. Roberts had a decent big league career and the Tigers sold him before he hit rock-bottom.Worst Transaction: Trading Ben Ogilvie and Willie Horton. Ogilivie was a young up-and-comer that didnt get a his fair shot in Detroit. He was 28 when he was traded and went on to hit 176 homers after leaving Detroit. Horton was aging but was a Tigers icon. More than being a baseball icon, he was an icon for the city of Detroit. Horton was 34 at the time of the trade and had only one good season left in him, but the Tigers got little in return and let a guy who should have been a lifetime Tiger leave town.Upper: Dave Rozema. In some ways, Rozema was Mark Fidrych 2.0. Sure he wasnt as charismatic as The Bird, but he was a Michigan guy who tore it up as a rookie. The 20-year-old went 15-7 with an ERA of 3.09 (ERA 138). Rozema was a pretty unique pitcher in that he struck out next to no one, but walked even fewer. He led the AL in walks per nine innings as a rookie and finished fourth in the Cy Young voting.Downer: Tom Veryzer having one of the worst offensive seasons ever. I have never heard of this guy since this was four years before I was born, but man oh man, what a disaster. Veryzer was a weak-hitting shortstop who got into 125 games for the Tigers in 1977. Alan Trammell was only 19 years old, so they didnt have another option at the position. Veryzer put up this line: .197/.230/.254. Thats unbelievable. His OPS was only 30, one of the lowest in the history of baseball for a player with that many plate appearances. Veryzer was decent enough in the field to play another 600 games in his career.Summary: Offensive postives included Ron LeFlore (100 runs and 39 steals) and Jason Thompson (31 HR and 105 RBI). Rozema led the pitching staff, but most everyone else struggled with performance and/or injuries (Fidrych). This club had only two winning months and got off to a bad start with an 18-26 start over the seasons first two months. A few young guys came up with this club. Alan Trammell made his debut at the age of 19, Jason Thompson and Steve Kemp were only 22, Lance Parrish was 21 and Lou Whitaker was just 20. This club was clearly on the way up, but the key pieces were a few years away from making serious contributions. This article is also featured on http://

Since premiering on FX, "The League" has garnered critical acclaim for its cast and writers. The show revolves around five guys who have known each other since high school, and now all play fantasy football together. The show is based in Chicago, which is nice to see for a change. It is essentially a show that aims to get laughs and relate to peoples real lives. Pete, the three time league champion, seems to be the center of the show. His marriage ended in the first episode and since then he has been enjoying the single lifemaking out with spa receptionists and gloating over his webcam about his three previous victories. Kevin, Petes brother, is the league commissioner. His wife Jenny helps him run his team, to the dismay of his friends. She is so into the fantasy football that she is even willing to strip naked in an alley to fulfill a bet made between Pete and Kevin. Kevin is a district attorney who used leverage over Ruxin to gain the number one draft pick. Ruxin is a defense lawyer who is paranoid that he is being made to lose the league each year. He constantly complains about his league and his wife. His very hot wife is played wonderfully by Nadine Velazquez. Ruxin always finds a way to piss off the wife who he knows is out of his league. No pun intended Taco is the stoner friend everyone had in high school. He pays little attention to his league, despite having won one year, and he is often hooking up with random women. He likes to use these women to get free things by finding out who his Eskimo brothers are, Eskimo brother being someone who has slept with the same girl he has. He also loves three penis wine. Don't ask. Andre is the geeky, awkward fiend who is always trying to fit in with the guys. He is a plastic surgeon, and despite being the richest of the group, is the brunt of most jokes. His wardrobe and draft picks make him an easy target, from wearing Vin Diesels Coat from XXX to picking Keyshawn Johnson. The only thing he has over the other guys, is he is actually with Shiva, the high school valedictorian after whom the league trophy was named. These five guys together make up a team that is simply hilarious. The guest spots in the first season have been great. From Terry Bradshaw screwing over Pete with an injury update, to Ruxins spa encounter with Antonio Gates, to Thomas Lennon from Reno 911 playing Petes gay marriage mediator. Pete isnt gay, the mediator is. The final episode airs this Thursday on FX appropriately titled, The Shiva Bowl. The guys will be watching as Pete and Andre go head to head. Obviously the fact that Andre is dating Shiva will come into play as her picture is featured very prominently on the league trophy. Tune in Thursday to see which Chicagoan takes home The Shiva Bowl. .
