He reached into the left-hander's batter's box for both, something I'd seen him do multiple times before. His speed plays better in the outfield than on the basepaths and he has a natural knack for route running. His arm is well above-average and could be the best in the Yankee's farm system. His 19 outfield assists led the South Atlantic League in 2009.Mesa is slated to begin 2010 with the Tampa Yankees of the high A Florida State League. The promotion should serve as a good barometer for Mesa's future. Will he thrive in the pitcher friendly FSL Or will he regressThis article can be found at Blogging About Baseball ..
Just when you thought the little Russian was all talk and no action, he comes up with aperformance that reminds you just why Wenger broke tradition and splashed the cash to get him.The quality of his performance was even more ironic when you consider the fact that he was asking for a taller center forward to be brought in by Wenger in the transfer window. Does this mean that he was wrong and Wenger should instead stick to playing short players in that positionThe answer for me is no. Arshavin did indeed play very well in the lone striker role today with his movement, technique, and intelligence, making up for his extreme lack of physicalpresence.Arsenal still had a problem though when it came to playing crosses into the box, and at times I found myself wondering, "why bother" as there seemed to be no chance at all of any Arsenal players getting on the end of any of them. The Russian also faded in the second half, and this is another problem: he is simply not fit enough to fulfill this role from a game-to-game basis.Hisperformance did, however, show that he iswoefully wasted out on the wings. If Wenger wants to get the best out of the Russian, then he must find a way to play him in the center.Arshavin has amazing off-the ball movement, a great first touch that helps him turn easily, and a knack for playingsumptuous through balls. With all these attributes he would be a dream for any of Arsenal's other strikers to play with.

According to Irish Sports Daily , Cincinnati coach Brian Kelly will agree to talk to Jack Swarbrick next week if approached about the vacant coaching position in South Bend.Even though he has ignored and put off the Notre Dame questions from the media this past week, Kelly never indicated that he had no interest in the position. Instead he called it a distraction and focused on the Bearcats' game against Pittsburgh this afternoon.Jack Swarbrick reiterated again this week that money would not be a factor in getting a new coach to South Bend, so expect him to approach Kelly and other candidates, including Bob Stoops and Urban Meyer, with a blank check. However, Stoops told The Sun Times today that he "will not be the next coach at Notre Dame." With that being said, expect the Irish to make a full push to make Kelly Charlie Weis'successor.Being an Irish Catholic from the depths of Boston and with South Bend having a familiar backyard on the recruiting trail, the Notre Dame offer will look very appealing to Kelly, along with a large pay raise.Kelly led his team to a come from behind win against the Panthers just hours ago, winning the game 45-44 after a last minute touchdown pass and a failed extra-point attempt by Pittsburgh. . And if you're still stuck, go check out our Fantasy Player Breakdowns for Week 13 .But the real meat at the quarterback position this week is in Arizona, where the Cardinals (and the rest of the world) is still unsure about Kurt Warner's status, and whether or not Matt Leinart (who didn't score last week) is a good replacement in the fantasy realm versus the Minnesota Vikings. We're suggesting to stay away from Warner for another week, and we're ranking Leinart one spot above him. That match-up isn't terrible, but we're not so sure Leinart will have a ton of success against the Vikings pass rush. Bruce Gradkowski PIT Notes: The top nine quarterbacks this week are either must-starts due to their elite play, and/or their savory Week 13 match-up.
