One has to apprehend though there are not many serious contenders. JeriShow have uplifted the prestige of the tag belts as we are seeing tag champs in main event feuds frequently. Very soon, the tag titles are up for grabs in a TLC match (a rarity). Not going through casual eyes, one with a sight would hail Jericho as the face of E for the past two years. The man is best at what he does, even if his work involves making some no-brainers guest-hosts remotely bearable.Satiating myself with the theory that WWE always gives Royal Rumble win to a veteran (apart from that lightening called Brock Lesnar), I am placing my belief on a Savior's day at the Royal Rumble, another jewel in the crown of King of Bling Bling.. For those who have read my articles in the past, you know that I usually try to look at things with a glass-half-full perspective. It's good for the blood pressure, good for morale and the Raider Nation seems to enjoy having some hope to look forward to.What does the other side of the table look like, has been a question thrown around, a lot, recently with the demotion of JaMarcusRussell.Well, yes, things could be a whole lot worse for the Raiders, in many different ways. For one, every offseason, Al Davis goes out and tries to find players to fill in the gaps when free agents or disgruntled players leave.Granted, if Al is causing the gaps, at least he is filling them in. Can you imagine what our defense would be like if Greg Ellis and Richard Seymour had declined to join the RaidersIn a word, possibly we would be without three wins.Another degree to look at, what if we never drafted Nnamdi Asomugha We decided to go in another direction and picked up say, Drayton Florence There goes a threat we have on on half of the playing field. How about if the Raiders had elected to not sign Jim Plunkett, or decided that instead of going with Jim, they stuck Marc Wilson out in his rookie season Another logistic nightmare for sure, but I doubt there would have been a Super Bowl victory. What if the Raiders declined to draft Howie Long, taken a shot on some guy named Lyle Alzado, or thought that John Matuszak was too wild to coachOur past, and present could have been radically altered, with a few different selections. How about the present and future RaidersWell, for one aspect, do we want to see another Raider coach The team has replaced several coaches in the last eight years...do we want to spin the door again and hope it fixes the existing problemsIn all honesty, dropping in another coach only delays fixing the problems. It would be akin to having a painter start a project, fire him or her, and have another painter come in.
The end result, is a mess that no one wants to see.As for the current team the Raiders have, something does have to be done regarding JaMarcus Russell. The team has to decide on either leaving him on the bench, or setting him on the street to be picked up.The worst possible thing Starting him again. I would rather have Charlie Frye start. Now for a topic i'm sure you'll all love, Al Davis. What could possibly be worse than Al Davis and his management of the clubHow about having no Oakland Raiders Imagine if Al Davis got fed up by the lack of production, or an inevitable demise, he dies and his son decides to sell the team off.The new owner, wishing to separate himself from the former ownership, familiarity and customs...moves the team, and changes the name. Then, you could say that IS the worst it could get.You could say things could get better in Oakland, I would agree to that statement. But trust me, it could also be a lot worse, both for and with the Raiders right now.. There have been a few moves in recent days that have an impact on fantasy owners (not to mention the potentially major signing of Chone Figgins and the Mariners, which isn’t “official” yet, so I will wait for that before commenting). Let’s take a look and see which players have seen their value increase, decrease or remain stagnant due to their new locale: Placido Polanco signed with the Philadelphia Phillies - All fans of NL teams must be rejoicing. Instead of adding another potential bat to an already deep lineup, they chose to go defense. While Polanco may see a slight increase in power playing in Citizens Bank Ballpark (though his best HR/FB rate since 2005 is 5.2), he likely won’t hit more than low double-digits. Couple that with little speed and a solid, though unspectacular, average and Polanco remains a low-end fantasy option. If he were going to hit near the top of the Phillies order, maybe things would be different, but I just don’t see him displacing Jimmy Rollins or Shane Victorino at this point. Marco Scutaro signed with the Boston Red Sox - He translated a career season into a job with a perennial title contender. Good for him, but don’t overvalue him on draft day. It’s not like he was playing in a bad lineup in Toronto, where he led off, which led to his 100 runs scored. On the Red Sox, with Jacoby Ellsbury and Dustin Pedroia, it’s highly unlikely he’s anywhere near the top of the lineup. That means less runs scored to go with a potential 10/10 season. Not all that enticing. Gregg Zaun signed with the Milwaukee Brewers - Zaun doesn’t offer much offensively for fantasy owners, though if he is given everyday at bats (as is rumored) he should reach double-digit home runs. As is the case with many catchers, that’s about all we can ask for, as he has a career average of .251. More importantly, his signing means that Angel Salome will at least begin the 2010 season back in the minor leagues. If you’re in a two-catcher format, I’d still keep my eye on him, but that’s about it for now. I want to know why this kid hasn't gotten more recognition for what he has acomplished this year. Case has a completion percentage of 70.5, has 4922 yards passing which is a thousand yards more than next closest QB, which if your wondering, Levi Brown from Troy University. I think what Tim has acomplished over his career at the University of Florida, has been amazing and he has definitely desereved his Heisman for the year he had in 2007. Spiller from Clemson, which I think is by far and away the best athlete in college football.
Toby has had a great year by Stanford's rushing standards, but his stats don't compare to the last few running backs that have won the Heisman. Toby has rushed for 1736 yards this year and has 26 touchdowns, good, but not Heisman good C.J. Spiller to me would be the runner up to Case Keenum, but in any other year, Spiller would be a front runner. I love to watch Spiller play because of the excitement he brings to everything he does. If the Heisman Trophy is supposed to be given to the best athelete in college football, than C.J.
