They have the 4th ranked total offense according to cfbstats , and the first ranked defense, ahead of Florida, Alabama, Texas and Ohio State. In addition, they have thoroughly convincing beatdowns of ranked BYU and Utah, yet the Horned Frogs are still getting very little NCAA love.If TCU were to have taken on a team like Iowa and Boise State faced off against, say, Georgia Tech then a disaster scenario could have occurred, as far the committee was concerned. If both teams were able to knock of top BCS contenders, possibly even convincing beatings, and finish the season undefeated, questions would have rained down regarding why neither team was selected for the championship game and why a playoff is not instituted to make sure this doesn't happen, again.Pitting them against each other rules out any chance of such an argument for both team. But it also ruins the arguments of the victorious team as well.As it stands, it's a no-win situation for both TCU and Boise State. Regardless of which team wins, the NCAA committee will simply make the argument that they were able to defeat a team that was undefeated only because of a weak overall schedule.
It will be nothing more than another victory against a ranked team that is "not a true NCAA power."It's a situation that would be easier to swallow if it didn't have such an negative impact on the players and schools involved. As fans, we can make our own decisions about which teams are the true powerhouses, and while it's fun to see some of the games played out, some of those games will never match the ones that occur in our minds. What's worse is the opportunity that is taken away from these young men who work so hard to hone their craft and work with their teammates to take their team to the highest of heights. With the college football season coming to an end and the Championship games wrapped up here is my preview of the 2010 BCS Bowl Games starting with the Rose Bowl and ending with the National Championship Game. And, oh my, it's the first time in BCS history that the entire top 10 made it into BCS bowls. Also it's the first time two non-automatic berth teams play in the BCS and against each other. Rose Bowl Presented by Citi (Pasadena, California)January 1, 2010 at 5 p.m. 7 Oregon (10-2) vs. 8 Ohio State (10-2)Oregon clinched the Pac-10 on Thursday night with a big win over Oregon State, while Ohio State clinched the Big Ten weeks ago by defeating Iowa. Oregon and Ohio State have faced two of the same opponents this year in Purdue and USC Oregon came out on top of both by 2 (Purdue) and 27 (USC).

Ohio State on the other hand was on the losing side against both USC and Purdue losing by 3 (USC) and 12 (Purdue).I've watched both teams play in those games and that is nothing to gauge this game off of but I think Oregon, overall, is the better teamoffensively since those games and throughout the season. On the defensive side I think Ohio State has the advantage because they have yet to give up 30, 40, or even 50 points like Oregon has plus Ohio State ranks 6th against the run and their pass defense has a 1-2 touchdown/interception ratio. But Ohio State has yet to face a team like Oregon with such a high powered offense who averages over 400 yards per game. This is going to be a game that takes all 60 minutes or more.I think Oregon's offensive style is too much for the Buckeyes to handle especially with LaMichael James, the addition of LaGarrete Blount, and Masoli. Also if things work out well for the Buckeyes I would not be surprised if they finally get a win against a Pac-10 team in a big game. I've heard Ohio State fans saying that they will have a field day running on Oregon's defense like Toby Gerhart did. But Brandon Siane and Dan Herron are no Toby Gerhart. Prediction: Oregon 38 - Ohio State 27 Nokia Sugar Bowl (New Orleans, Louisiana)5 Florida (12-1) vs. 3 Cincinnati (12-0)January 1, 2010 at 8:30 p.m. Wow is all I can say about that 3 next to Cincinnati but it is well deserved. This game is interesting and from now until then many things can change especially who is at the helm of the Bearcats come January 1st. Tim Tebow vs Tony Pike is what this game comes down to.
